POE – Points Over Expectation. This is how many points a player accounted for (Offense and Defense) per game compared to what an average player would’ve done given the same amount and types of possessions.
CPOE – Created Points Over Expectation. The offensive component of POE. This is how many points a player scored compared to what an average player would’ve scored given the same amount and type of shots.
DPOE – Defensive Points Over Expectation. The Defensive component of POE. This is how many points a player prevented compared to what an average player would’ve done given the same amount and type of defensive possessions.
PIPM – Player Impact Plus-Minus. An estimate of how much value a player adds to their team. IS broken down into Offensive and Defensive categories.
BPR – Bayesian Performance Rating. Stat created by Evan Miya for Evanmiya.com. Another stat that attempts to measure the value a player adds to their team. Also used to measure which teams are better than others. Broken down into offensive and defensive components.
Gravity – How much defense a player attracts. Often used in relation to spacing/shooting. A player with high gravity keeps defenders close to them, meaning their defender won’t help elsewhere.
(Play at the) 1- play point guard
2- play shooting guard
3- play small forward
4- play power forward
5- play center
Stretch 4 or stretch 5- a big man that can shoot the ball to stretch the defense.
